Start your day with a little bit of rock’n’roll. A perfect birthday present or Christmas gift for a Jimi Hendrix fan. The large C-handle and wide mouth allow for easy, everyday use.

Perfect for coffee, tea and hot chocolate, this white, classic shape, durable ceramic mug in the most popular size employs high definition printing on all sides using ceramic inks that are 'fired on' at temperatures of up to 1200 degrees. A truly permanent imprint that will never fade or lose its glow.

In June 1967, Jimi Hendrix concluded his legendary Monterey Pop Festival performance with the sacrificial burning of his by now iconic hand-painted Fender Stratocaster. Jimi had played a different guitar throughout the concert, but switched to this one for the last song of the set – The Troggs’ 'Wild Thing'.

Just before spraying lighter fuel on the guitar, Jimi said, “This is for everyone”. He then bent down, kissed the guitar, then threw a lit match onto the the prone instrument. Like some kind of mystic worshiping at an altar, he knelt in front of the blazing Stratocaster, the audience mesmerized, watching him smash it into pieces right there on the stage in front of them, before throwing the shards into the crowd. It seems that only one of those pieces is accounted for and it’s kept safe for posterity in the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle.

Designed exclusively for John7Arts / Rock'n'Roll Redux by multimedia artist David Lloyd, an alumni of Central Saint Martins School Of Art and the Institute Of Contemporary Arts in London.

Employing the Découpe (cut-up) technique in which written text is cut up and rearranged to create a different and perhaps unexpected new narrative, David Lloyd has employed shards of lyrics to give discerning fans an opportunity to engage in 'discover the songs' beneath a foreground featuring an iconic and classic guitar. The Découpe concept can be traced back to at least the Dadaists of the 1920s, but was popularised in the late 1950s and early 1960s by writer William S. Burroughs and later employed by David Bowie, Kurt Cobain and Thom Yorke. Each unique Rock’n’Roll Redux design ©2020 David Lloyd.
